Putten is a very good place to start your cycling trip across the Veluwe, as you cycle through a vast polder area or the varied forest. You will pass cosy villages and discover special and unique spots. All cycling routes can be ordered or bought at our shop! Check out our tips and fun routes below!

Family route Forest to Herd (13 km)

A fun route for the whole family with lots of great places to stop off. You will pass Landgoed Schovenhorst, Het Solse gat and sheepfold and visitor centre Schapedrift, among others. The route follows the cycle junction network and costs € 1.95.

If you want to cycle for about 1.5 to 2 hours, these routes below are quite suitable. Will you stop for a drink in between? Then you're in for a lovely afternoon out! While cycling, you will follow the numbers of the cycling junction network. The route has been created by ourselves! That way, we can be sure you will pass by the most beautiful spots. You buy the routes at our shop for € 1.95 each.

Hanse and present on the Veluwe (28 /42 km)

A beautiful 42 km route passes by the historic Hanseatic city of Harderwijk, with a visit to the unique eel museum. You can also shorten the route to 28 km then cycle through the centre of Ermelo. A very varied route through woods and town.
Round extraordinary Putten (42 km)

This varied route takes you past beautiful natural areas in Putten and its surroundings. Spot the many meadow and water birds along the way and marvel at Putten's pearl of industrial heritage "Het Putter Stoomgemaal". Be surprised by the beautiful heathland and oldest forest of the Netherlands.
Sand and Heath Route (31.5 km)

A beautiful route that passes Staverden Castle, the smallest town in the Netherlands! You also cycle across the Beekhuizerzand, through the centre of Ermelo and across the Groevenbeekse Heide. A very varied route in terms of natural areas!
Speulderbos en Heideroute (36.5 km)

This route goes past the sheepfold on the Ermelose Heide, through 'the forest of dancing trees', through hamlet Drie and via Krachtighuizen back to the centre of Putten. The route passes brasserie Schovenhorst, ice cream parlour het Melkmeisje and Terra Nova Burgers & More, among others.
Surprisingly Versatile Veluwe (37 km)

This route passes the edge lakes Nulde and Horst, through hamlet Telgt, the centre of Ermelo, across the Ermelose Heide and through the woods. Along the way, you can enjoy some goodies at a nice restaurant at various locations.

Bos en Landerijenroute (24 km)

This route goes through het Speulder- en Sprielderbos, along heathland de Grote Ark, past the sheepfold in Boeschoten (picnic location) and then you cycle between the meadows back towards the centre of Putten. The route goes via the cycle junction network and costs €1.95.

Around the Randmeren 50 km

As the name implies, this route takes you on a bike ride around the border lakes. You will pass, among others, the Horsterwold. If you leave the route a little way off, you will pass the visitors' centre of Stoomgemaal Arkemheen. The route can be shortened to 34.5 km.
Radio Kootwijk route 60 km

Zeumeren, Hoog Buurlo, Radio Kootwijk and Landgoed Schovenhorst you will all pass by if you fetch this route. radio kootijk provided the first direct radio contact with the Dutch East Indies. The route is 60 km!

Farmland and forest (47.5 / 37 km)

This varied route passes by Appel (hamlet), Barneveld and Voorthuizen. Along the way, you will find country houses surrounded by meadows and woods and corn mill de Hoop (1888). The route can be combined with a visit to the Toy Museum in Terschuur.

Cycling can be done throughout the Veluwe using the cycle junction network. Along the cycle path are signs indicating the way with numbers and arrows. This way, you can enjoy the surroundings while cycling and don't have to pay attention to street names or navigation. An overview map of the network can be bought at the VVV tourist information office.

The farms cycling route (38 km)

Created by the Putten Historical Society, this route takes you through beautiful ancient landscapes and past historic farms. The surroundings have hardly changed over the centuries. The route can be shortened to 15 or 30. It costs €2.50

This route is a gift from us! Just copy the junctions on a junction map or draft notebook and you are ready for some great cycling. This route takes you past beautiful places in Putten and its surroundings. You will cycle along het Solse Gat, through the woods with the 'dancing' trees and past various estates!

War Memories Cycle Route (35 km)

This route has been put together by the Samen Verder Foundation and takes you past a large number of historic sites in Putten where various events took place during the Second World War.

The starting point of the ‘War Memories Cycle Route’ is the Oude Kerk. The cycle guidebook, containing the route and brief background information (€1.95), is available from the VVV in Putten.
