James Oesi, double bass, and Andrea Vasi, piano
In 2026, double bassist James Oesi will present his new album featuring all six of Bach’s solo cello suites, performed on the double bass. To prepare for this musical marathon, James Oesi has trained not only musically but also physically under the guidance of top athlete and coach Bjorn Nijenhuis. The project is both a tribute to the timeless power of Bach’s music and an exploration of the double bass as a solo instrument in its own right. Before the interval, you will hear two of Bach’s cello suites, and after the interval, James Oesi will join pianist Andrea Vasi to perform, amongst other pieces, Debussy’s ‘Claire de Lune’ and Monti’s ‘Csardas’.
Sunday 8 November 2026 • 3.00 pm
Mitch Raemakers, tenor, and Reinild Mees, piano The young, highly talented tenor Mitch Raemakers will sing romantic love songs by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Ottorino Respighi, Giuseppe Verdi and Benjamin Britten, whose well-known folk songs are on the programme. He is accompanied on the piano by Reinild Mees, who made a name for herself as a partner to many renowned singers. Mitch and Reinild will also present a small selection from their new CD featuring songs by the Viennese composer Joseph Marx, who was famous in his own time and is now being rediscovered!
Marx’s atmospheric music is reminiscent of his contemporary Gustav Mahler and is a real treat for the ears.

Trio Acosta, featuring Matthieu Acosta on guitar, Irene Gabarrón on flute and Udo Demandt on
percussion
A concert featuring exclusively original compositions by Matthieu Acosta. Accompanied by flute and percussion, Matthieu introduces the audience to the great versatility of flamenco music. The programme offers a lovely balance between lighter repertoire and profound, emotional themes, whilst also explaining the background to the pieces. The musicians complement one another without losing their individuality; this results in an organic flow of styles, performed in varying line-ups – from solo to duo and trio.
Sunday 7 March 2027 • 3.00 pm
Trio Jakob, featuring Fiona Robertson on violin, Carla Peña Romero on cello and Carlos Marín Rayo on piano
The Trio Jakob was founded in Barcelona in 2014 and has been based in The Hague since 2017. With their three distinct personalities, this piano trio creates a unique sound. Since its
its formation, the trio has performed in leading concert halls and at music festivals in countries including Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands and Portugal. The ensemble has also won several awards.
The programme ‘The Legacy of Felix Mendelssohn’ features three of the greatest piano trios of the Romantic era: Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49;
Bedřich Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15; and Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Trio No. 4 in E minor, Op. 90, the famous ‘Dumky’ Trio.
Sunday 11 April 2027 • 3.00 pm
Hein Wiedijk, clarinet, and Frank van de Laar, piano Shortly after clarinettist Hein Wiedijk took on the songbirds at Oldenaller alongside Camerata RCO during last June’s Garden Concert, he is back with a splendid Brahms programme, in which he will perform both Clarinet Sonatas, Op. 120 Nos. 1 and 2, accompanied by pianist Frank van de Laar. In addition to these monumental sonatas – Brahms’s final chamber music works, composed before his death in 1897 – Frank van de Laar will also perform two further piano works by Brahms; it is not yet known which these will be.
Sunday 30 May 2027 • 3.00 pm
Opera Rebels, featuring Ana-Carmen Balestra and Roza Herwig on vocals, and Julius Backer on piano. As singers, they combine traditional opera with jazz, folk music and cabaret songs from the theatre in a unique and energetic performance. Opera Rebels perform in living rooms, cafés and small theatres, and recently gave a concert for opera lovers during the Grachtenfestival. They are also working on larger productions, including an opera of their own.
