The area between Putten and Nijkerk in the Gelderse Vallei, is ideal for hiking and cycling, as well as estate excursions. Relax during a nice walking or cycling tour at the sheepfold. It has been converted into a rest and information point and is located along the 8 km Oldenallerpad. This wooden shoe path leads through castle woods, across farmland, along wooded banks and across heathland.
A landmark on Oldenaller is the castle from 1655, which is not open to visitors but can be admired from the outside. The original moat was filled in and new water features were created in landscape style by Zocher, the same style as the castle park. It is home to a colony of grey herons of around a hundred pairs. Many bats also live there. Natuurmonumenten regularly organises special bat excursions at Oldenaller.

Also visit the organic farm Klein Oldenaller, which is located next to the castle. The farmland is lined with wooded banks and intersected by streams and ditches. This makes Oldenaller a small-scale farm or camp landscape where it is nice to walk.
Dive into Oldenaller's nature and see the food and habitats at coppice groves for countless insects, birds and small mammals such as polecat, ermine and badger. Goldweed grows along the streams and on the higher, nutrient-poor ground, marsh woad, beaked bog and bell gentian are found. At Oldenaller, Natuurmonumenten changes farmland into wet flowery grasslands, creating groves and wet hay meadows along the stream as in the past. Thanks to careful heathland management, unusual plants and insects have returned.
