The Speulderbos is one of the most beautiful and oldest forests in the Netherlands. Crooked oaks grown in wondrous curves define the atmosphere. It is popularly known as the forest of dancing trees. You will also find many burial mounds here. The forest is a paradise for (predatory) birds, deer and wild boars. In the middle of the forest lies het Solse Gat. This is a deep chilling pit in the forest. The legend is about a sunken monastery. The monks are said to roam around het Solse Gat around midnight until sunrise , still. During the day when the sun shines through the trees, it looks like the trees are dancing. A fairytale-worthy scene.
