Shop & Enjoy!

Putten is the perfect place for a day of shopping and relaxation.
Many tourists think they have to head to the ‘big city’ for a day’s shopping, but nothing could be further from the truth – and I’d love to show and tell you all about it in this blog.

A day at the Putten shopping centre what does that look like? Well, I like to start with a cup of tea and some goodies and today I am doing so at De Marktmeester. You can enjoy lunch and dinner here, but there are also lots of goodies with tea. As I have an afternoon tea planned at the end of the day, I take something elaborate now, so I can skip lunch today. This delicious waffle with hot cherries and whipped cream was delicious!

After this energy boost, I’m ready to visit the shops. I’ve got a few things on my list, but I’m also planning to have a nice browse. Fancy joining me? I’ll start in Kerkstraat, where the cheerful, summery shop windows immediately catch my eye. The most beautiful shoes are on display at van Boeijen, and at G5, Now and La Chicana too, we can see that the new summer collections are full of bright colours and cheerful prints. It really gets you in the summer mood straight away! At La Culina , I buy a lovely present for my girlfriend, who loves cooking, and at van Hoff I have a quick peek in the shop window to start thinking about which beautiful piece of jewellery I want to put on my wish list.

At ‘Onze winkel’, they have so many lovely things that you hardly know where to look. The handmade items from Onze werkplaats are really cool too!

As well as some lovely fashion shops, Putten’s shopping centre also boasts a host of charming spots for gifts, beautiful homeware and culinary delights; and alongside the many unique local businesses, there are also a number of well-known chains for daily shopping and household essentials. Even in Dorpsstraat, I have to restrain myself from buying out the shops – there really are so many lovely things to be found!

Klein Mode has decorated the shop beautifully once again – what a treat! At De Binnenkamer, even the scent as you walk in is simply delightful. And there are so many lovely things for the home. I pop quickly into the bookshop to buy a new book and then I have to hurry, because it’s time for Afternoon Tea.

With my arms filled, I arrive at Flute & Herb. This is where I will enjoy the new afternoon tea today together with VVV colleagues. We are enthusiastically welcomed by Mariëtte and Rieneke and take a seat at the large table at the back of the shop. The table is beautifully set with nostalgic cups and saucers and is soon complemented by a beautiful teapot with fresh teas and a richly filled etagere. We enjoy freshly made sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and all kinds of delicious sweets. Now this is real enjoyment!

Walking back towards the car, I make a small diversions via the Verlengde Dorpsstraat. At Domburg Kaas & Noten I pick up delicious cheeses, nuts and other goodies to enjoy on the couch in the evening.
