Car routes

Discover the Veluwe from your car!

Is it raining? Are you having trouble getting about? Or do you simply fancy venturing a little further afield?
Then perhaps it’s time for a drive. Two* car routes are available from VVV Putten (€3.50).* Unfortunately, the ‘Hanze, History and Present’ car route (100 km) is temporarily unavailable.

Autoroute Van Kasteel tot Kudde (80 km)

This route starts at VVV Putten. By car, you’ll pass, amongst other places: Landgoed Schovenhorst, Staverden Castle, Hoog Soeren, Assel and the Hoog Buurlo sheepfold. At the sheepfold, you can also park your car and visit the sheepfold on foot (a 5-minute walk).
From Hoog Buurlo, the route continues to Stroe, past a lavender farm and the Klein Boskoop viewing and walking garden. Before you return to Putten, the route takes you through the charming centre of Voorthuizen.

Hanseatic Route, History and Present (100 km)

The route starts at VVV Putten. By car, you’ll pass, amongst other places: the Schaapskooi in Ermelo, the Staverden Estate and the Hanseatic town of Elburg. Tip: take a stroll through the picturesque town and imagine yourself back in the Middle Ages for a moment.
From Elburg, the route continues towards 't Harde, home to the Dutch Artillery Museum. Passing through Vierhouten and Garderen, the route ends back in Putten.
