Walking along a clog path

Walking a Klompenpad path is a unique experience. There are 4 Klompenpaden in Putten. Councillor Joyce Kamphuis talks about her walk on the Oldenallerpad.

On one of the last real summer days of this year, I walked the Oldenallerpad (8 km) with Suzanne. A perfect distance for the evening after dinner. Because while it may be 30 degrees during the day, it gets dark again quite early in early September anyway

It is clear from nature that we have had a long warm summer with little precipitation. Already at the start of the route you come to the Schuitenbeek and a little later to the beautiful 1655 Oldenaller castle. There, the drought is most noticeable due to the low water level in the pond surrounding the castle. Nevertheless, this stretch of the route through the castle forest is beautiful; from one of the benches you have a nice view of the castle.

The rest of the route takes us through a varied landscape that still feels very fresh and green. The flowery field edges in particular are still looking beautiful. A nice element on this route are the footbridges over the streams, a good balance test during the walk.

The route takes us a little later to the Schaapskooi on the Hogesteeg. A place where you can take a break from the first kilometres with good views. During opening hours, you can get a cup of coffee or tea from the vending machine or go to the toilet here. This is also Natuurmonumenten's information point with information on history, plants & animals and recreational opportunities in the surrounding area. In the evening it was closed, but fortunately Suzanne brought a bottle of water.

The last part of the route takes us across a small moor. Just before we reach the heath, we have to share the footpath with an adder that quickly seeks shelter among the vegetation. On the heath, sheep are grazing happily. And before we know it, we are back at the car. Perfectly timed, it's already starting to get a tiny bit dark. It was a very varied walk through beautiful Putten.
